The Metropolitan Airports Commission is seeking to hire a Parts Room Technician. This position is responsible for preparing purchase orders and processing parts and supply requisitions for the Maintenance Shop. Other duties include ordering parts and materials, processing invoices and packing slips and providing information on status of orders. Parts Room Technicians forecast needs for future orders and maintain a perpetual inventory system of materials in stock and conduct physical inventory and reconcile discrepancies in the inventories.  

Computerized Inventory
  • Maintain perpetual inventory system of materials, supplies, and parts in inventory and on order through an automated inventory management system.
  • Process and initiate purchase orders amount, type, and value of material/parts/stock on hand.
  • Research, order, receive, issue and replenish stock of automotive/truck/equipment   parts 
  • Computer data entry from packing slips, invoices, and work orders.
Maintenance/Parts Inventory
  • Maintain catalogs, files, references, and records of materials, inventories and deliveries, repair manuals and equipment 
  • Stock all incoming parts and materials and, when required, creates new locations for new items.
  • Inspect products for quality and quantity to insure adherence to specifications.
  • Provide information to determine status of current orders and to forecast needs for future orders.
  • Performs cycle counts, and year end counts per schedule. Reconcile discrepancies in inventories, notifies supervisor of irregularities.
  • Compiles information on receipt or disbursement of inventories and computes inventory balances, prices and costs.
  • Assist Assistant Managers, Field Maintenance/Fleet and other Field Maintenance supervisors with budgeting process.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness, appearance, and safety in shop parts and office area.
  • Control sign-out/sign-in of expensive parts and tools.
  • Assist shop personnel in maintenance of dead-lined equipment system.
  • Issue repair parts and maintenance items, as required.
  • Record gas/diesel fuel usage daily/reconcile usage.
  • Order gas/diesel fuel when necessary.
  • Verify and approve receipts of parts and supplies for payment.
Coordination Activities
  • Functions as a primary source for dealing with the needs of the MAC Mechanical Shop. 
  • Communicate with vendors by e-mail, phone, or visit, to verify delivery/shipment of goods and assist in warranty work scheduling.
  • Contact vendors/suppliers to order parts and materials, insure price quotations, and follow-up purchases
  • Operate as liaison between mechanics and parts vendors.
  • Operate as a liaison between field maintenance shifts and work groups.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Three years of current or recent experience working with computerized parts/materials inventory management systems.
  • Ability to set up and maintain computer software packages related to parts, products, fuel, supplies, etc. 
  • Ability to reference a particular part in an auto parts manual.
  • Proficient and accurate data entry skill.
  • Experience dealing with vendors, suppliers, internal and external customers.
  • Valid state-issued drivers’ license.
  • Able to lift, handle, and carry items of at least 50 pounds.
  • Able to be reached via phone for emergency call-backs.
  • Must pass AOA test within six (6) month of hire date.
