September 11, 2021, marks the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks that significantly impacted the airport industry. Ensuring the safety and security of the traveling public remains a top priority for airports across North America.
The Metropolitan Airports Commission, operator of Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, has joined with other airport operators in working closely with government, airline, and other aviation partners to implement enhanced security measures to advance that important mission over the last two decades.
So much has changed in the last 20 years, including the overhaul and expansion of aviation security and the creation of agencies like the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA). The extensive work that has been conducted and the lessons learned over the last 20 years have become a central component to the safety and security culture we have today.
MSP joined other airports on this anniversary to share a message that demonstrates industry unity in our security mission.
