Southwest Airlines announces two new destinations

Dec 4, 2017

Southwest Airlines recently announced that it will begin daily nonstop service to Oakland International Airport (OAK) from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP), starting July 15, 2018.

"Southwest Airlines has been a tremendous partner to MSP and the region, having added a total of 14 year-round and seasonal destinations since it began service here in 2009,” said Brian Ryks, Executive Director/CEO of the Metropolitan Airports Commission, owner and operator of MSP. “Their consistent growth has helped us reach a current 59 competitive destinations from MSP Airport out of 158 total.”

Southwest is MSP’s fifth airline to offer nonstop service to California’s popular Bay Area. The others are Alaska, Delta, Sun Country and United (flying into San Francisco and San Jose airports).

Southwest is also offering once-per-week nonstop service from MSP to Dallas Love Field (DAL). That service runs June 10 through August 5, 2018.
