Overnight Road Closures at MSP; Detours will Maintain access

Apr 26, 2017

Overnight road closures at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International (MSP) Airport’s Terminal 1-Lindbergh will occur this weekend.

Starting Friday, April 28 at 10 p.m. through Saturday, April 29 at 5 a.m., and then again Saturday at 10 p.m. through Sunday, April 30 at 5 a.m., the Terminal 1 entrance road  (Glumack Drive) will be closed.

Motorists arriving from Highway 5 will be detoured first onto Post Road and then onto Northwest Drive, then past and around the U.S. Post Office. The detour route will be marked with signs.

People traveling to Terminal 1 during these timeframes can expect some delays getting to parking, rental car returns, or passenger drop off and pick up in front of the terminal.

The road closures are necessary to accommodate construction of a skyway linking the airport’s new InterContinental hotel – scheduled to open summer 2018 - to the terminal. The work is being performed overnight to lessen the impact on traffic.

If weather conditions warrant cancellation of the work, the road closures will occur the following weekend, Friday, May 5 through Sunday, May 7.
