34th ave. information
Opened in October 2013, the Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDl) slows traffic exiting and entering I-494 at 34th Ave. The DDl improves traffic flow, reduces congestion and enhances safety around Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport's Terminal 2-Humphrey.
The 2013 construction of the 34th Ave. DDl debuted this formation in the Twin Cities and is the first U.S. project to incorporate railway commuting as well as motorist traffic. The 34th Ave. interchange project is part of a larger growth plan for the airport's Terminal 2-Humphrey.
Construction of the DDl occured in five phases from July to October of 2013.
